POLSON — Two Polson Middle School eighth-graders have the chance of a lifetime this summer. Wyatt DuCharme and Payton Lefthand are two of 100 kids chosen from Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon to attend a National Basketball Camp Tour to the United Kingdom and Europe in July.
In a press release Payton said, “I love the game of basketball.”
Wyatt concurred, “I live and breathe basketball.”
Payton looks up to Chicago Bull’s player Derrick Rose while basketball legend Magic Johnson is Wyatt’s hero. Both young men play on their middle school teams. Payton has attended NBC camps the last two summers, one in Washington and one in Missoula. In addition to participating in football, basketball and wrestling, Wyatt plays trumpet in the PMS band and made the honor roll.
Each young man has to come up with $5,000 for the two-week trip, which includes airfare, lodging, two meals a day and uniforms. The boys have already started raising money by holding an Indian taco feed. They plan a spaghetti dinner and a stew feed, raffles and 50/50 drawings.
Both boys said any amount would be appreciated and contributions to raffles would help, too
Wyatt has a NBC account at Community Bank, and Payton has one at Eagle Bank. Donations can be made there or by contacting Wyatt at 34296 South Finley Point Road, Polson, and Payton at P. O. Box 1314, Polson.
