Editor,

A sacred document called the Declaration of Independence states that I have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is my belief that those words are in many ways, synonymous with the right to collective bargaining.

If I were a criminal, I would be entitled to an attorney to protect my interests even if I could not afford one.

As a law abiding citizen, I am not entitled to having a union protect my interests even if I wish to have them do so.

Something is wrong with that picture.

As a banker, stock broker, self employed business owner… I was never able to know the joy of being a union member.
