MISSOULA — The Polson Pirates’ boys soccer team had a tough time finding their groove, taking a loss against co-op team Loyola/Valley Christian in Missoula.
Polson’s only score came from Loyola knocking one in their own net in the 1-5 game.
With his starters dropping like flies due to various reasons including season ending injuries, Coach Jess Kittle is reworking his line up and readjusting players into new positions with trying results. Kittle did see some positives come out of Tuesday’s game.
“I liked seeing how Jaben Wenzel and Alex Helgeson played together in the midfield and Sutton Kanta played in a defensive role,” Kittle said.
Though Polson took another loss on Saturday against Hamilton, Coach Kittle saw some progress in the Pirates’ play.
“We showed a lot of improvement in keeping the ball in the midfield and making runs to open space to give our teammates good passing options,” Kittle said. “We will continue to work on our defensive positioning as well as finishing our shots on goal.”
Pirates will be in Libby on Thursday, Sept. 19.
