MISSOULA – Polson’s Lady Pirates continue their wins picking up a W from Loyola. Junior Sarah Howell stepped it up and scored all three of the Lady Pirates goals in the 3-0 game.
With key starters absent on Tuesday Coach Michael Hewston saw some impressive play coming from his freshman one being Alana fox who had four shot attempts. “Fox really has the ability to become a lead scorer for Polson as she matures in her playing ability,” Hewston said. Freshman Hannah Hobbs and Olivia Hewston also had great showings on the field.
“This game was by far the most physical game the girls have played,” Hewston said. “It was a lesson in the need for speed of play.”
On Saturday Polson toughed it out but fell to Hamilton with a score of 1-7.
Sophomore Tessa Nunlist scored Polson’s only goal assisted by junior Keely Clairmont.
Goal Keeper freshman Jenna Evertz kept busy with nine saves at the net.
Coach Hewston will use this game as a “humbling experience” for the girls. “Even though Polson has a great team this year, we have a lot of work to do,” he said.
Lady Pirates will take their game to Libby Sept. 19 and then return home to face Whitefish Sept. 24.
