Lady Pirates fall short against Frenchtown Tuesday

FRENCHTOWN - Rainy conditions left the Lady Pirates with just a single matchup this week as Polson dropped a non-conference game on the road Tuesday.
Polson managed just two runs in the contest against the Lady Broncs as Lady Pirate runners crossed the plate in the third and sixth innings.
After Polson was unable to score in the top of the opening inning, Frenchtown grabbed the lead with four runs in the bottom of the frame.
Frenchtown pitcher Abby Indreland continued to dominate in the second inning put Polson was able to break through with a run in the top of the third inning to cut the Lady Bronc lead to 4-1. Frenchtown answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to go up 5-1.
Polson had an opportunity to get back into the game in the sixth inning as the Lady Pirates had the bases loaded with two outs, but Indreland stuck out her third batter of the inning to get out of the jam with Polson having scored just one run to cut the lead to 5-2. Neither team scored again as Frenchtown held on to get the win.
Polson managed just six hits in the contest, led by a 2-3 performance at the plate by Kodi Woods. Shay Duford, Sallie Smas, Ashley Johnson and Makaliah Wilson also had hits in the game for Polson, but all six of the Lady Pirates' hits were singles.
Shay Duford took the loss for Polson.
The Lady Pirates will be back in action at home Thursday and back on the road Saturday.
