Polson sweeps Ronan in boys, girls tennis

RONAN - Polson's tennis squads picked up a sweep at Ronan as both teams picked up 7-0 victories in cold, wet weather Thursday.

On the boys' side of things, the Pirates won every set of their matchup with the Chiefs as top singles player Justin Evertz downed Hunter Schima 6-2, 6-2. Will Davey picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win over Payton Adams, Reed Hovenkotter downed Spencer Sucha, 6-2, 6-3 and Sam Kimzle picked up a win over Joey Dresen, 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles action, the team of Brady Hislop and Ian Laimbeer downed Aaron Yazzie and Chase Allen, 6-1, 6-0. Hayden Congdon and Dylan McCrumb took down Tyler Anderson and Daniel Aylesworth, 6-2, 6-2 and Andrew Storro and Sam Peel defeated Logan Soukkala and Tallon Fortin, 6-0, 6-1.

The Lady Pirates also picked up a 7-0 win in their matchup with the Maidens as top singles player Whitney Zimmerman defeated Josie Benedetti, 6-2, 6-3. Jordan Quinn downed Amber Metzger, 6-1, 6-4 while Audra Engbretson defeated Seri Smith 6-3, 6-1 and Tashina Barnaby was defeated by Polson's Tegan Bauer, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, the team of Kenzie Clay and Carmen Borchers defeated Katelyn Matkovitch and Taylor Courville, 6-4, 4-6. 6-4, Karly Rochin and Mollybeth Hendrix got past Sarah Anderson and Darian Blixt-Leo in a marathon match, 6-1, 6-7 (7-4), 7-6 (7-3) and Sara Robinson and Dani Howlett defeated Aimee Freiberg and Elsie Bold, 8-6.

Polson's squads will be back in action Friday at Hamilton and Corvallis while Ronan will be in action against Libby at Columbia Falls Saturday.
