POLSON – Polson’s Lady Pirates soccer team got the victory on Tuesday, Sept. 3 with an 8-0 win against the Bigfork Vals.
Head Coach Michael Hewston was pleased with how solid the girls played.
“As a coach it was good to see little to no drop in play when we started rotation in other players,” Hewston said.
Junior Sarah Howell led the team with four goals and one assist and Keely Clairmont, also a Lady Pirate junior, had two goals and an assist of her own.
Goalkeepers Monica Cleveland, a senior, and freshman Jenna Evertz combined for six saves at the net.
Lady Pirates put up a fight on Tuesday but came up short against the Belgrade Panthers in the 0-2 game.
“Overall it was good learning experience for a young team and we will grow from our mistakes and use them to better ourselves,” Hewston said.
Saturday brought Park High of Livingston to Polson’s home field with Lady Pirates walking away with the 2-0 win.
Freshman Tiara Duford and junior Keely Clairmont combined to score Polson’s two goals.
“They are coming together as a team and playing for each other which is all I can ask for at this stage of the season,” Hewston said.
Polson will continue their play on the road this week with games in Missoula, Hamilton and Libby.
