PRFD's policies are self-serving

Editor,
The Polson Rural Fire District (PRFD) trustees have unanimously decided to proceed with their plan to bill "crash fees" for fire department accident responses - without obtaining a legal opinion that they have the authority to do so.
This is in stark contrast to their action to immediately seek a legal opinion before providing non-personal information about accidents to which they have responded. This information, if made available to the public, would provide some transparency to the billing process.
It appears that the PRFD trustees are very willing to selectively use the law to suit their objectives.
