Lady Pirates down Bigfork, Corvallis in tennis action Friday

The Lady Pirate tennis squad continued its strong early season run Friday, picking up wins over Bigfork and Corvallis.
Polson had little trouble with Bigfork, winning six of seven matchups as top singles player Kendyall Rochin downed Bigfork's Hannah Barrett, 6-3, 6-3.
Whitney Zimmerman also picked up a win for Polson, downing Kianna Wicklund, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 while Jordan Quinn defeated Bigfork's Ariel Stallknecht, 6-3, 3-6, 10-6.
In doubles action, the team of Tegan Bauer and Mollybeth Hendrix downed Bigfork's McKenna Gembala and Miranda Miller, 6-3, 6-1 while the Polson duo of Sara Robinson and Moninique McGowan got past Byrne Tilton and Mariah Bradstreet, 6-4, 6-2.
Bigfork's only win of the match came as McKenzie Shults defeated Karly Rochin, 6-2, 6-3.
Polson's matchup against Corvallis was a much closer one as the Lady Pirates pulled out a 4-3 victory.
Kendyall Rochin picked up another win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Lexi Fangster while Zimmerman downed Brooke Heckeroth, 6-1, 6-3. Hannah Lockhart picked up a win for Corvallis with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Hendrix and Megan Lenglyel downed Bauer, 6-3, 6-0.
In the doubles matches, the Corvallis squad of Sydnee Madruga and Lairen Phinney defeated Polson's Kenzie Clay and Jordan Quinn, 7-5, 6-3. Polson struck back as Audra Engebretson and Karly Rochin defeated Samantha Stoker and Kailey Holmes, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Robinson and McGowan also won as they defeated Lacey Allsop and Jaurice Cooper, 6-2, 6-0.
The Polson boys had a rough day Friday as they fell to both Bigfork and Corvallis.
Polson picked up wins in just two matchups against the Vikings as Bigfork downed the Pirates 6-2.
Will Davey defeated Bigfork's John Lyon in singles action, 7-5, 6-4 while the doubles team of Reed Hovenkotter and Sam Peel won by forfeit.
Polson's Andrew Storro came up just short of getting Polson's third win in the match as he fell in a marathon match to Bigfork's Nate Roberson, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 10-7.
It was a much closer matchup as the Pirates took on Corvallis but Polson still came up just short, falling 4-3.
Hayden Congdon picked up a win for Polson in his singles match, downing Tanner Zsupnik, 7-5, 6-4. Storro came away with a win in his matchup as he defeated David Stevens, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action, Peel and Hovenkotter picked up a win over Mack Reichard and Drew Myers, 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.
