DRUMMOND – The Lady Bulldogs’ impressive hitting helped the team blaze past Drummond on April 9, winning 14-6. Kinley Pope led the Lady Bulldogs at the plate, hitting 2-4, including a triple, and 4 RBI’s.
Pitcher Kyla Olson improved to 4-0 as she allowed only three walks and seven strikes.
“Several players had an impressive game,” Mission coach Susan Weaselhead said.
According to Weaselhead, Janeal McDonald, Jessica Foust, and Pope had hits that would have resulted in home runs if the field had an outfield fence.
Mission-Charlo-Arlee kept the Trojans scoreless through the first three innings as they took control of the game early, with a lead of 8-0 at the top of the fourth. The Trojans then scored two runs in two innings, as the Lady Bulldogs went on a temporary scoring drought. At the top of the seventh, the Trojans were still in it, with a score of 9-5.
Mission-Charlo-Arlee then exploded again in the top of the seventh, putting up five runs to Drummond’s one to finish the game 14-6.
Pope’s 2-4 hitting and 4 RBI’s led her team, while Olson and McDonald went 2-5 and both had 2 RBI’s. Sara Nerby also had a pair of hits, along with 2 RBI’s to finish the game.
