To say Harvest Fest at K. William Harvey Elementary was a big success would be an understatement. More than 500 parents and children came out Thursday evening with creepy crawly costumes, colorful wigs and other Halloween costumes to play games for tasty prizes and celebrate the fall season at the annual event.

First-time event coordinator and Ronan PTA President Amy Sevier couldn’t have been more proud of how everything went throughout the evening.

“People looked like they were having a great time,” Sevier said. “We didn’t run short (of candy), and we didn’t go home with any extra.”

New additions to this year’s festivities included a bean-bag-toss influenced game called pumpkin toss, face painting, craft beading and a squirt bottle pumpkin shoot-out.

Sevier added the event wouldn’t have been a success without all of the volunteers, teachers and parents who offered their time to come out and help run the booths and clean up afterwards.

“It was fun,” Sevier added. “There were lots of smiles on the kids’ faces, so it was great.”

Ronan PTA will have a craft night on Dec. 1 where kids can come and build crafts in various booths.
