BUTTE — The Arlee Scarlets were handed two tough losses last week at the Western C Divisional tournament in Butte. The Scarlets lost to Ennis 0-3 on Thursday.
“We played a pretty tough game against Ennis,” coach Brian Big Sam said.
Mikayla Sullivan, who had 19 kills, three blocks and six aces, led Ennis. Mahalia Hendren had seven kills and three blocks.
On Friday, the Scarlets faced a loser-out game against a familiar opponent when they lost to the Charlo Lady Vikings, 3-0. Deondra Brown had 14 kills in the match to help her team advance in the tournament and sound the end for the Scarlets.
Hendren had 12 kills and three blocks to help her team end the season 14-9.
“They did pretty good,” Big Sam said, adding that a lack of mental preparedness contributed to the losses.
Arlee’s head coach said he is positive about next year. There are two open positions on the team, and he expects his young players will step up and meet the challenges.
