RONAN — The Ronan Police Department is investigating a string of vehicle break-ins and residential burglaries that have been happening since June, Ronan Police Officer Chad Brown reported.
Police suspect a single individual to be responsible for the 10 residential break-ins and the 15 vehicle break-ins that have happened at random in Ronan, Brown reported.
The suspect is checking for unlocked doors and stealing anything of value inside, including prescription medicines, check books, wallets, purses or weapons to be pawned at local pawn shops.
Brown asked that residents keep their vehicles locked and properties well-lit. He also suggests that truck owners keep anything of value in a secure area and not in the truck-bed.
In two separate burglary investigations, Ronan Police suspect different individuals and have made two arrests.
James Wasson of Ronan was arrested as a suspect in a residential burglary on Main Street S.W. on Oct. 7.
The resident of the home saw Wasson emerge from the back of the house after she returned from dropping her child off at school.
The suspect was allegedly acquainted with the resident, and stole approximately 60 DVDs and a package of diapers — all of which were later returned to the owner. Police have also arrested a suspect in the Second Chance Saloon burglary. It was reported that three suspects smashed a window pane on the morning of Sept. 11 and stole nearly 50 bottles of liquor.
