POLSON – Last year Jo Durand was up cooking turkeys at 5 a.m. Local church members baked pies and homemade dinner rolls.
That’s just a sample of the community caring that goes into the Polson Community Thanksgiving Dinner, and Linda Greenwood and Toni Young already are coordinating the 2010 meal. Fifteen 20-pound turkeys await roasting for Thankgiving dinner, Greenwood said.
Everyone is welcome, especially people who would like some company and a good homemade meal. Sponsored by the Senior Citizens’ Center and Polson Ministerial Association, dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, at the center, 504 3rd Ave. E.
As well as turkey and all the trimmings, including homemade pie, diners can visit with old and new friends and be entertained by Trish Tavenner, John and Marge Davis, Jeff Devlin, Keryl Lozar, Sue and Ed Wing and the Old Time Fiddlers.
Volunteers from the Senior Citizens’ Center, Polson churches and community will organize, cook, serve and greet dinner guests.
The dinner is free, but donations will be accepted and divided between the Senior Center and PMA’s Helping Hands Fund.
Home delivery orders and requests for rides must be placed with the center by 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 883-4735.
Community members who would like to donate or would like more information can call 883-8256.
