Editor,
The Affordable Care Act is probably the least understood piece of legislation, yet the piece of legislation most people are so definite-in-deciding about one way or the other of anything put forth from our nations great bastion of political wit and wisdom in the history of this country.
Read this: “’Repealing health care reform will add $230 billion to the deficit over the next decade, leave 32 million fewer people with insurance and lead to higher costs for those who are covered,’ the Congressional Budget Office said in a letter to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).”
Well now, is this true? Do I know for sure? Do you? Do we all know exactly how the CBO is run? And, for example, does Mitt Romney lay out exactly what he just might do after repealing what he calls “Obamacare” immediately after taking office? Do his clever applause-seeking phrases play upon real wisdom or do they ratchet up the fear and anger so prevalent in our society today?
I firmly believe it is about time that we average Americans take personal charge of our political opinions by basing them upon very clear research, sensible dialogue and clear understanding. rather than just hiding behind dearly held affiliations with this or that political party and believing everything these politicians spew forth, people who are only concerned about raising millions of dollars, bashing the other party relentlessly, getting elected or re-elected, and having little concern for middle America. Are you happy and satisfied with these people?
The way I see it, the future of our nation depends upon electing people with reasonable, logical, expansive and forward-thinking legislative minds in harmony with America’s real needs and concerns. We need to find them, promote them, and get them into office.
