Editor,

Magazines for Troops is appealing to Mission Valley businesses and citizens for help with out Adopt-a-Box Program for our deployed troops. We are a volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to sending appropriate new and/or gently used magazines, paperback books and DVDs to deployed troops overseas in remote areas and to aid stations where the wounded are temporarily housed while awaiting transport to other medical facilities for treatment. We are currently serving 11 units in Afghanistan, Kuwait and other areas.

Magazines for Troops was organized more than five years ago and will continue its work as long as there is a need of reading materials for our deployed troops. If you would like to help us support our deployed troops, please know any assistance is greatly needed and appreciated. We are always in need of postage donations at $11.35 per box. Donations may be made to Magazines for Troops and sent to Esther Gunlock, 41129 Haystack Mountain Lane, Polson, MT; or Donna Chase, P.O. Box 909, Lakeside, MT, 59922; or you may visit our website at magazinesfortroops.com and make a donation on PayPal. All donations are tax-deductible and go directly to postage.

Donation coin jars are also located at the following businesses: in Polson, Betty’s Diner, Community Bank, Cove Deli, Driftwood Inn, Insty Prints, Jackie M’s Shoes, Lake County Courthouse, Polson Elks, Polson Family Eyecare, Stageline Pizza, Safeway, Super One Foods and the VFW; in Ronan, at Community Bank, Harvest Foods, Mission Mart, Lucky Strike Lanes, Mexpress, Pizza Café, Stageline Pizza, Valley Bank and all remote Valley Bank locations; and in Charlo at Connie’s Countryside Café. In addition, magazine drop-offs are located at Walmart and Pablo Family Foods.

It is people like you who make it possible for us to continue our efforts to serve our military in this way. For more information or to volunteer your time with our mission, please call Esther Gunlock at 883-1517.
