Nation should repent

Editor,
(This is a letter I wrote to President Obama and some members of congress.)
This is not a crank letter. I write out of deep concern for the welfare of our country. While reading Second Kings in the Bible there was something repeated so often that it became monotonous; one would have to be a dunce not to get the message: to compromise God’s absolute truth to satisfy a pagan culture is disastrous. When the leaders of a nation weakly yield to pervasive pagan culture and relativism, they do so to our own harm and ultimate destruction. Following are some contemporary examples. Biology classes now teach a one-sided theory of our existence on this planet – no rebuttal allowed. The new interpretation of “Separation of Church and State” requires no mention of religion (not say, God as the creator.) No public prayer in school (we must not offend those with atheistic inclinations.) No display of the Bible in the form of the Ten Commandments. Now we teach “situation ethics” (everyone decides for themselves what they will consider right and wrong.) We now kill unwanted human beings via abortion – an ancient pagan practice. We now ignore God’s rule for what constitutes a legitimate marriage. The Bible is very clear on this (Romans 1:24-27.)
The best summary of our present predicament as a nation is found in Deuteronomy chapter 28. It reveals how a nation can rise and how it can slip into chaos. It describes in detail where we are at today. Oh to God that our leaders had the courage and conviction to take a stand for righteousness as did our founding fathers, and would call our nation to urgent prayer of repentance. I realize that I am only one of the “little people” in our nation, but I believe what I have said represents what a lot of Christian people feel is an urgent need in America. I submit this letter with the prayer and concern that some responsible people will take action.
Thank you for your consideration.
