The term “bachelorette party” usually conjures up images of a wild night on the town — a last hurrah before the bride settles down to married life. But a girls’ night with the wedding party and friends doesn’t have to be total mayhem. There are plenty of more relaxing, and perhaps more memorable, ways to spend the evening than hitting bars or clubs.
In beautiful Northwestern Montana, many people enjoy outdoor activities year-round, and a bachelorette party doesn’t have to be an exception. If your favorite pastimes involve camping, floating the river or skiing, depending on the time of year, an overnight adventure with your favorite bachelorettes might be the way to go. The Mission Valley alone has endless scenic spots where sitting around a campfire reliving old memories with friends would make a lovely evening.
If you’re into more active pursuits, a weekend or day trip to a nearby ski mountain allows for plenty of fun bonding time with the girls. Blacktail Mountain and Whitefish Mountain are two popular ski areas within a two-hour drive from the Mission Valley.
As the wedding day approaches, increased stress is inevitable. After months of wedding planning, maybe what you need is a day or weekend at a spa — the ultimate “girl time.” What better way to prepare for moving on to a new phase of life than by enjoying some pampering with your best friends?
A themed bachelorette party is another way to differ from the traditional bar scene. There’s nothing wrong with simply throwing the bride a party at a friend’s house themed for the time of year, the bride’s cultural origins or favorite activities.
For example, an early May wedding could call for a Cinco de Mayo-themed party, complete with a piñata, margaritas and chips and salsa. Add in some games like pin-the-sombrero-on-the-mariachi, and you’ve got a fiesta everyone will remember.
However you decide to interpret your bachelorette party, remember, it’s not about fulfilling anyone else’s idea of what the tradition means.
Take some time to reflect and think about what you enjoy and how you’d like to spend this special time with your friends.
