Mission teams go 2-4 in action-packed week

Last week was full of basketball action for both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs as both teams took the court three times.
The Bulldogs went 1-2 during the week as they downed Noxon but fell to Bigfork and Troy.
Mission opened 2011 at Bigfork Tuesday as the Bulldogs put up a good fight but fell short against the Vikings, 32-19.
Mission used a strong defensive showing to keep the game close as Bigfork led on 9-6 after one quarter of play. Both teams continued to struggle to score in the second frame as Bigfork took a 14-7 lead into the halftime break.
The Vikings continued to add a few points to their lead in the second half as Bigfork went on to win by 13.
Stuart Grant scored eight points and added six rebounds to lead Mission in the loss while Dylan Evans added five points and four boards. Austin Durglo led the Bulldogs in rebound with seven.
The Bulldogs bounced back from the loss Thursday as they defeated Noxon, 48-33.
Mission hit 7-14 from beyond the arc in the win while also outrebounding Noxon 24-21.
Nikko Alexander led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Grant added 12 points and four rebounds.
The Bulldogs found themselves in a tough battle Friday as they came up just short in overtime against Troy, falling 60-53.
In a game that was close from beginning to end, the Bulldogs had a chance to win in regulation but missed a layup with seven seconds to play.
Grant led the Bulldogs with 21 points and eight rebounds in the loss while Austin McDonald and Durglo each added eight points.
The Lady Bulldogs opened 2011 with a tough loss at Bigfork Tuesday as they fell to the Vals, 51-9.
Mission came into the game undefeated but could not keep up the Vals as Bigfork jumped out to a 21-6 lead after one quarter of play. Bigfork went on a 30-3 run over the final three quarters to get the win.
Kayla Mitchell scored five to lead Mission in the loss while Stephanie Lewandowski and Breanna Steele each added two points.
The Lady Bulldogs suffered their second loss of the season Thursday as they fell at home to Noxon, 51-32.
Noxon jumped out to a 20-13 lead after one quarter of play and went on to win each quarter en route to the win.
Lewandowski led Mission with eight points in the loss while Ashley Courville added seven.
The Lady Bulldogs broke their losing streak with a win Friday night as they downed Troy, 46-27.
Mission jumped out to a 16-6 lead after one quarter of play but Troy came storming back in the second frame to cut the Lady Bulldog lead to 22-18 at the half. Mission pulled away in the second half for the win, using a 24-9 run to put the game away.
Mitchell scored 14 points to lead the way for Mission while LaGlen Mitchell added 10.
The Lady Bulldogs will be on the road at Plains Thursday before hosting Thompson Falls Saturday while the Bulldogs will host Plains Thursday and be at Thompson Falls Saturday.
