It was an up and down week for both the Warriors and Scarlets on the basketball court as both squads defeated visiting Hot Springs Thursday before falling to Charlo Friday.

Kasey Bridgewater helped spark a strong first-quarter showing by the Warriors against Hot Springs Thursday as Arlee jumped out to a 13-1 lead after one quarter of play. Arlee outscored the Savage Heat 13-9 in the second quarter to grab a 26-10 halftime advantage. Arlee continued to pull away in the second half, outscoring Hot Springs 28-18 over the final 16 minutes to earn a 54-28 victory.

Bridgewater scored 12 to lead the Warriors in the win while Thomas McClure was also in double figures with 10 points.

A slow start was too much to overcome for the Warriors Friday as they fell at home to visiting Charlo, 58-48. The Vikings took a narrow 12-9 lead after one quarter but outscored the Warriors 16-8 in the second frame to build a 28-17 halftime lead. Arlee won the second-half battle 31-30 but it was not enough to erase the deficit.

McClure led the Warriors with 18 points in the loss while Jessie Pfau added 17.

A strong fourth-quarter comeback was not enough for Scarlets to pick up a win over Charlo Friday as the Lady Vikings downed Arlee, 30-25.

Charlo built its lead during the first three quarters of play as the Lady Vikings took a 24-10 lead into the fourth quarter. The Scarlets went on a 15-6 run over the final eight minutes of play but still came up just short.

Kristyn Adams led Arlee in the loss with 11 points while Mahalia Hendron scored nine, Alexis Schick had three and Becca Nelson added two points.

The Scarlets used a strong second half to pick up a home win over Hot Springs Thursday as Arlee outscored the Lady Savage Heat 21-10 over the final 16 minutes of play.

Arlee built a narrow 11-10 lead after one quarter of play and outscored Hot Springs 10-8 in the second frame to take a 21-18 lead at the half before pulling away in the fourth quarter.

Hendren had an excellent game, leading the Scarlets with 19 points while Schick added nine.

Both teams will host Seeley-Swan Friday before traveling to face Noxon Saturday.
