RONAN – The Ronan High School speech and drama team earned 87 points and a first place team finish at the Whitefish Invitational tournament on Saturday. The team outpaced division rivals Libby, in second place with 60 points, and Polson, in third place with 45 points.

“This was truly a team win,” head coach Melissa Knabe said. “The team has worked hard and supported each other all season, and their efforts have paid off.”

Elsie Bold earned first place for the fourth time this season in Pantomime. Ethen Sheumaker finished in third place, improving from last week, and Shyann Brum finished in fourth place in her first meet of the season.

In Classical Duo, Josie Benedetti and Robert Hocker took first place, and Ebru Calin and Jonelle Lauer finished third. Robert Hocker and Katie Salomon finished fifth in Humorous Duo and Thomas Oschmann and Bradley Findly finished sixth.

In Serious Duo, Andrew Crenshaw and Josie Benedetti placed fourth and Thomas Oschmann and Bradley Findly took sixth. Ebru Calin placed first in Serious Solo, and teammate Jonelle Lauer finished in eighth place.

Andrew Crenshaw finished in second place in Humorous Solo.

The team is currently seeking judges for a speech, drama and debate tournament they will host Saturday, Jan. 15. A tremendous number of judges are needed to fill approximately 350 judging slots.

“We are requesting your help for a single event, several events, or the full day,” Knabe said. “Any donation of your time would be greatly appreciated.”

Breakfast and lunch will be provided on the day of the tournament.

“If you are anxious about judging for the first time, never fear,” Knabe added. “We will hold a judges’ clinic on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 5:30 p.m. in Ronan High School room 27.”

If you are available to judge, or if you have questions, please contact Melissa Knabe: melissa.knabe@ronank12.edu, (406) 676-3390 ext. 3531; or Amy Miller: amy.miller@ronank12.edu, (406) 676-3390 ext. 3533. Knabe thanks the community in advance for their help and continued support of students.
