Editor,

I just wanted to say a few things regarding this return of my property from Lake County Sheriff’s office in lieu of me not being able to be there.

I am currently away training with the U.S. military, so I cannot be there to retrieve my property, and as such my wife will be getting the property this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. (Feb. 10) from Detective Rick Lenz at the Lake County Courthouse.

It is somewhat fitting that Emily (my wife) receive the property, as she has born the brunt of this saga, probably even more than I. I specifically purchased those computers (the ones that are actually working) for her and my children to communicate with me while I was deployed with the military last year, and as they were illegally seized right before my deployment, my family was at a severe disadvantage in communicating with me while I was away. I was unable to email them, or share pictures or receive pictures of my children while I was away.

The fact that Lake County has decided to return this property with no charges being filed, and no investigation being conducted, is a clear admittance of illegal and improper behavior not only by Lake County Sheriff’s office employees, but by Lake County attorney Mitch Young. Mitch Young himself has said that it was a “clear conflict of interest” for Lake County to investigate due to the truthful information that I exposed about corruption and unethical activities currently going on at Lake County Sheriff’s office. Despite this, he himself personally signed the application for the search warrant.

After Lake County Sheriff's deputies entered, searched my home, and illegally seized my property, no interview was ever conducted, nor was I ever contacted regarding any potential charges. No investigation ever took place. Let me reiterate that: no investigation took place.

Lake County sheriff and the Lake County attorney’s office have attempted to send a message to the citizens of this county, and that message is fear and intimidation.

I just hope that the citizens of this county see this for exactly what it is, and not be afraid to speak out when they see corruption and wrongdoing in the offices of their elected officials.

I also find it slightly ironic that my family and I have suffered because of this, specifically while I’m away serving in the military, Lake County Sheriff’s Office continues to employ a fake Marine as a supervising patrol deputy and continues to allow corruption to run rampant within its offices.

My attorneys and I will be taking appropriate action regarding this and other issues.
