Chiefs win 5 of 8 bouts Friday but Polson wins dual, 48-33

Open weight classes cost the Chiefs Friday as forfeits at six weight classes by Ronan led to a 48-33 Polson victory.
Ronan won five of the eight matchups that took to the mat in the dual but the Chiefs could not overcome their lack of wrestlers.
Shelby Grant, Toby Cheff, Colby Roberts and Andrew Tiegan all picked up pins for the Chiefs in the dual while Alex Nystrom picked up the only pin of the evening for the Pirates.
The dual opened with a forfeit win by Polson’s Jake Young at the 135-pound division. Nystrom followed with a pin of Ronan’s Carston Baertson in 3:45 but Ronan got on the board in the next match as Grant pinned Skylar Anderson in 4:42. Polson’s Colton Lenz defeated Dustin Goldsby via 9-5 decision at 152 pounds and Pirate Mike Devlin won by forfeit at 160 pounds. Ronan’s Cole McArthur picked up a forfeit victory at 171 pounds and Chief Cheff pinned Marlin Burke in 2:09. Ronan’s Roberts pinned Terrell Chiefstick in 3:55 at 215 pounds and Polson’s Josiah Clairmont won by forfeit in the heavyweight division.
Carlos Quinones, Dylan Moll and Craig Feistner all picked up forfeit wins for Polson at the 98, 105 and 112-pound divisions, respectively. Ronan’s Andrew Tiegan pinned Drew Fouty in 5:13 in the 112-pound division while Polson’s Jessie Alfiero picked up a 7-5 decision against Brandon Dumont at 125 pounds. Finally, Ronan’s Nate Brooks picked up an 8-5 decision over Jose Quinones at 125 pounds.
With Friday’s matches, Polson’s wrestlers are 316-175 this season heading into Saturday’s Divisional Tournament at Whitefish.
