The second-ranked Vikings survived a pair of tough tests this week to remain undefeated, downing Hot Springs and Two Eagle River.

Clutch free throw shooting was the difference Friday as the Vikings sank 13 of 18 foul shots down the stretch to pull out a 48-43 victory over visiting Hot Springs.

The Vikings looked as if they would roll to their 14th win of the season early on in the contest as Charlo ran out to a 24-14 halftime lead, but the Savage Heat would make a strong second-half run. Hot Springs cut the Charlo lead to eight after three quarters and continued the comeback in the fourth quarter. Zack Malinak led a fourth-quarter charge for the Savage Heat, scoring 11 of his game-high 17 points in the final eight minutes, but it was not enough as Charlo held on to get the win.

Dillon Delany led the Vikings with 13 points in the win while Chance Rosenbaum added 12.

It was the Vikings who needed a second-half comeback to pick up a win Thursday as Charlo won at Two Eagle River, 63-53.

Charlo jumped out to a 21-17 lead after one quarter of play but the Eagles answered with a 13-8 second-quarter run 30-29 halftime lead. The second half belonged to the Vikings, though, as Charlo outscored the Eagles 34-23 over the final 16 minutes to grab the victory.

Rosenbaum led the Vikings with a game-high 21 points while Kolten Andrews added 11, Dillon Delaney, Chico Stipe and Garrett Herron each scored eight points and Stephen Delaney had seven.

The Lady Vikings improved to 6-0 in district play and 11-1 overall Friday as they picked up a 40-20 win over visiting Hot Springs.

Charlo dominated the opening half, holding the Savage Heat to just three points while building a 17-3 advantage. Hot Springs was able to score 17 in the second half but the Lady Vikings added 23 as they cruised to the win.

Jordan Ledeman led the way for the Lady Vikings with 13 points while Kinley Pope added 10, Rachel Hoyt had six, Kelsie Blevins scored five and Jessica Faust, Deondra Brown and Aspen Runkel each added two points in the win.

The season continues Tuesday as Charlo hosts Arlee. The Vikings play on the road at Thompson Falls Friday while the Lady Vikings play host to Thompson Falls Saturday.
