The Warriors picked up a pair of league wins this week as Arlee improved to 6-1 in district play and 11-3 overall.

The Warriors used a strong fourth quarter to pull away for a win over visiting Two Eagle River in Arlee Saturday.

The Warriors jumped out to a quick lead early in the game but the Eagles closed the gap before the end of the opening quarter. Two Eagle guard Artie Mendoza picked up a steal and easy layup and the end of the opening quarter to cut the Arlee lead to 13-12.

The Warriors built an eight-point lead with two minutes to go in the opening half but the Eagles scored seven points in just under a minute to cut the Arlee advantage to 29-28. A second-chance basket by Kasey Bridgewater and an inside bucket by Thomas McClure gave the Warriors a 33-28 halftime advantage.

The Eagles continued their comeback in the third quarter, taking their first lead of the game on a turn-around jumper by T.J. Cutfinger with 6:01 to go in the period. Dakota Desjarlais tied the game with a free throw moments later but Mendoza knocked down a left-corner three moments later to put the Eagles up 38-35.

Two Eagle went up by as many as six in the third quarter but the Warriors came back to tie the game at 45 with 1:19 to play in the frame. A driving layup by Junior Sansavere gave the Warriors back the lead for good with 57 seconds to play in the third quarter.

McClure opened the fourth quarter with a series up jumpers to help the Warriors pull away and Arlee held on down the stretch to pick up a 69-60 victory.

Bridgewater led the way for the Warriors with 18 points while Jesse Pfau and Sansavere each scored 13 and McClure added 12.

Clayton Malatare led Two Eagle River with 14 points.

A strong second quarter by the Warriors was the difference Tuesday as Arlee picked up a 54-43 win at Superior.

Superior jumped out to a 14-12 lead after one quarter of play but Bridgewater knocked down a trio from long range in the second quarter to help the Warriors outscore the Bobcats 17-9.

Arlee outscored Superior 25-20 over the final 16 minutes to earn the win.

Bridgewater again led the way with 19 points while McClure and Trae Burland both added nine points.

The Scarlets had a tough week as they fell to Mission and Superior.

The Scarlets saw one slip away Monday as Mission used a second-half comeback to down Arlee. Arlee scored 12 points in each of the first two quarters to build a 24-18 halftime lead but the Bulldogs came out on fire in the second half. Mission outscored the Scarlets by two in the third quarter to cut the Arlee lead to 33-29 heading into the final eight minutes of play. The fourth quarter belonged to Mission as the Bulldogs used a 21-6 run to pull ahead for a 50-39 win.

Whitney Malatare led the Arlee effort with 18 points while Mahalia Hendren added 11.

Visiting Superior proved to be too much for the Scarlets Thursday as the Bobcats picked up a 64-48 win.

Superior led 30-18 at the half and continued to pour it on in the third quarter. Arlee outscored the Bobcats 19-14 in the fourth quarter but could not complete the comeback as Superior got the win.

Malatare led Arlee with 14 points while Hendren added 12.

Both the Warriors and Scarlets will be at Charlo Tuesday before traveling to face Hot Springs Saturday.
