PLAINS — The 2013 Silvertip District Cub Scout Pinewood Derby was held in Plains on Saturday, March 23. To qualify for this race, the cars had to place in the top four in their packs. In the Silvertip District (Lake and Sanders County), there are six Cub Scout packs.
Silvertip District winners were Matthew Druffel, first, of St. Ignatius’ Pack 100; Danny Krahn, Ronan Pack 40, was second; Gabe Moxness of Pack 100 was third; and Polson’s Tommy Sherry of Pack 47 fourth.
The eighth annual Montana Council Pinewood Derby will move west of the Continental Divide for the first time this year, as it’s scheduled for April 13 at Polson’s Linderman Elementary School. Check-in and maintenance begins at 11 a.m., with voting for best in show from 12:30 to 1 p.m., when racing begins.
All Cub Scouts in Montana are welcome to join in the fun, and there will also be an open class for siblings, parents, older Boy Scouts, etc. All Cub Scouts will receive a patch and T-shirt, and there will be trophies for the winners.
