Meeting attendees also want what’s best for community

Editor,
I attended the Polson Rural Fire District meeting of March 9 in opposition of the “crash fee.” I was appalled at the outburst of one of the board members. The board is elected to serve the public, not to be served by the public. One person in the audience was trying to speak when a board member got very loud and angry and rose from his seat. Then a second time, the same board member, when being handed a copy of a newspaper article, said loudly that this is not on the current agenda. The monthly agenda does include a “public input on non-agenda items.” This paper being handed out was just for reading, not action from the board. As a side note, another of the board members said they are just trying to do what is best for the community. That infers the people who pose questions do not have that same idea. We are opposing the “crash fee” because we feel it is the wrong thing for the community. We have never faulted the firemen or fire department, only the decisions of the rural fire board.
