Editor,
If you are looking for an evening of fun, then buy a ticket to “Bullshot Crummond,” currently playing at the John Dowdall Theater on the Polson Bay Golf Course. This comedy is a parody of British 1930s spy movies and portrays a fictional book, stage, and film character named Bulldog Crummond.
Mike Lozar is tailor-made for the lead character, Bullshot; his wife (both in the play and real life) Hilary portrays the damsel in distress, Neal and Karen Lewing are the villains, Otto and Lenya Von Brunno.
Louis Jepson is the master of quick costume changes as he portrays first the professor, and then an uppity waiter, a one-armed Scotland Yard inspector, a hunchback, and a Chinese hit man.
The dialogue is witty, the set design, scene changes, and sound effects are amazing. Airplanes crash, dynamite explodes, and the hilarious high-speed car chase all take place right there on the stage. It is light-hearted and delightful and makes me realize once again how fortunate we are to live in a community where creative, talented artists work so hard to bring quality live theater for the rest of us to enjoy.
The play runs Wednesdays through Sundays through August 7. Don’t miss it.
