RONAN – Ronan state champion wrestler Cole McArthur will continue his career at the college level as a Blue Hawk at Dickinson State University. During his senior year, he picked up the state championship for his 171-weight class at his first appearance at the tournament. His new head coach, Thadd O’Donnell, says he can’t wait to add even more talent to his freshman class.
“Cole’s definitely a hard working guy,” O’Donnell said. “He will be a big benefit for our team.”
McArthur says he’s just relieved that he has finalized his decision and can relax.
“I’m really glad I’m going there, it’s a good school,” he said.
McArthur plans to continue playing baseball, as he has enjoyed his time playing left field for the Mission Valley Mariners. Dickinson was the one school he could play the two sports he loves. He added that the scholarships offered to him also weighed in on his decision.
“I’m excited to start building my future career,” McArthur said.
O’Donnell says he may red shirt McArthur because he is such a talented prospect.
“He’ll make a big impact, that’s for sure,” O’Donnell said. “Our program has been in the top ten since I’ve been here, and I expect our future to reflect that.”
