Editor,

People’s kindness can be a remarkable gift. Recently, SAFE Harbor has been fortunate to experience the kindness of many caring friends from across the valley.

First, the Starving Artists Show, hosted by Julie and Willard Moore, designated SAFE Harbor as the beneficiary of their fundraising. The event was well-attended, entertaining and raised funds for our organization. Thank you to the Moore family, the artists involved and to all who contributed to the auction — your support is wonderful.

The following week, the host committee of the Women 4 Wellness Health Fair at Salish Kootenai College selected SAFE Harbor as a recipient of care packages to be used at the shelter. What a magnificent honor. The reception was fabulous — we received dozens of laundry baskets filled with housewares. These items will all find a home in the near future, as new clients come to the SAFE Harbor facility. Thank you to all of those who brought items, to Salish Kootenai College, to the host committee, to the health fair sponsors, to S&K Electronics, to Walmart of Polson and to all of our friends from across the area. These acts of kindness really do make a difference.
