Judge C.B. McNeil dealt with the following cases Wednesday, July 6:
Nathaniel Bird, 25, Polson, denied all allegations made against him as the state requested his probation and parole be revoked for partner or family member assault, third offense, a felony.
According to court documents, Bird was originally sentenced October 2006 to the Department of Corrections for five years with all suspended except 90 days in Lake County Jail. Then in July 2007, Bird received five years with two years suspended when his probation and parole was revoked. The court set a hearing on merits for Wednesday, July 20 at 9 a.m.
Nicole Madplume, 23, Polson, changed her plea and admits committing the amended offense of criminal possession with intent to distribute, a felony. The court accepted the plea and found Madplume guilty. The court also granted the state’s request to dismiss a second count of criminal possession with intent to distribute. A PSI was ordered and sentencing set for Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 9 a.m.
According to court documents, charges stem from an October 2009 incident where Madplume attempted to ship marijuana and two types of schedule II drugs to her mother-in-law, sealed and concealed in a bag of coffee grounds.
Judge Deborah Kim Christopher dealt with the following cases Thursday, July 7:
Jeremiah Winterhawk Bird, 25, Ronan, admitted committing assault on a peace officer or judicial officer, a felony. The court found Bird guilty. A PSI was ordered and sentencing set for Thursday, Aug. 18 at 9 a.m.
According to court documents, charges stem from a Jan. 22 incident where a woman called the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to report that Bird had cut his wrists. Bird fled before the deputies arrived. When Bird returned, the woman called the officers and they came back to find Bird outside holding a metal fencepost. The officers advised Bird to drop the post, but Bird refused and began advancing toward the officers while swinging the post. The officers drew their firearms and warned Bird to stop. Bird turned and walked toward a tribal officer down the hill. The officer told Bird to stop or he would deploy his taser. Bird did not stop; the officer deployed the taser but it misfired, and Bird kept advancing. The tribal officer then drew his pistol, and Bird took off running down the road. He was eventually arrested without further incident.
Elizabeth Courchene, 25, Browning, had her 2008 deferred sentence for fraudulently obtaining dangerous drugs, a felony, and criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony, revoked. She was sentenced to the Department of Corrections for five years with three suspended. The court recommended Courchene be considered for Passages and pre-release.
According to court documents, Courchene allegedly violated probation by driving while her license was suspended or revoked, failing to appear, using marijuana and alcohol, and failing to pay court fines and fees.
Louis Caye, 41, Polson, had his April 2010 two-year deferred sentence for intimidation, a felony, revoked. He was sentenced to the Department of Corrections for seven years with five years suspended. The court also recommended Caye for Connections Corrections and pre-release.
According to court documents, Caye admitted to drinking alcohol and to failing to follow through with court-ordered treatment program and medications.
According to court documents, charges of intimidation date back to January 2010 when Caye allegedly was disruptive in a Polson liquor store; abusive and threatening to the clerk; he ordered a drink and refused to pay for it and demanded that customers give him their change. He also refused to leave when asked and eventually threatened the clerk and punched him in the chest. He also threatened to break the jaw of the female who had come to the store with him.
