HOT SPRINGS — According to Lake County Commissioner Ann Brower, the State of Montana will close Christiansen Bridge, the third bridge east of Montana Highway 28 on Little Bitterroot Road between Ronan and Hot Springs, March 4-29. During this time, the bridge will be replaced with a steel bridge.
A letter dated Feb. 20 from the Montana Department of Transportation to the Lake County Commissioners Office reads, “Due to deterioration of the piles at both abutments, failure of one of the piles at abutment 1, and the lack of support beneath the square pile at the pier, this bridge can no longer carry traffic.”
“This is a well-traveled road, and there is no detour around it,” Brower said. “This is a big deal for a lot of people.”
Christiansen Bridge is approximately 3.5 miles east of Hot Springs.
