RONAN — District 14-C hoops tournament action lit up the Ronan Event Center Thursday afternoon, and as the day wore on, fierce competition burned a few Mission Valley teams.
Arlee's Warriors handled the heat just fine, taking down the St. Regis Tigers, 65-15. But the Charlo Lady Vikings weren't as fortunate, unable to withstand a second-half onslaught from the St. Regis Lady Tigers, who outscored Charlo 23-12 after the half to win 30-25. The upset was tough to take for the No. 3-seeded Lady Vikings, who move on to play Two Eagle in a loser-out game at 11:15 a.m. Friday.
The Two Eagle boys also had a tough night, falling to Noxon 68-46. The Eagles will play St. Regis at 1 p.m. Friday in a loser-out contest.
The Arlee Warriors will face Noxon at 4:30 p.m. Friday; the winner of that game will play for the district title at 7:45 p.m. Saturday. The Charlo Vikings beat Hot Springs earlier on Thursday and will play No. 1-seeded Superior at 8 p.m. Friday to see who will be the other team in the district title game Saturday night.
After a bye in the first round, the Arlee Scarlets are slated to face Hot Springs at 6:15 p.m. Friday for a chance to advance to the title game at 6 p.m. Saturday.
