POLSON — Cold weather and overcast skies on May 5 and 6 didn’t deter Clean-Up Green-Up volunteers in Polson except for an early shut-down on Saturday.

Armed with bags, gloves, safety vests and sticks, volunteers picked up trash on the U.S. Highway 93 corridor from Safeway past Rocky Point Road, on Hillcrest Drive and in the city parks.

Dorene Parise, chair of the Envision Polson beautification committee, said the turnout for volunteers was good.

The trash bags volunteers used were all recycled from Glacier Brewing Company and Delaney’s Landscape Center, Parise said.

After cleaning up on Sunday, workers met at Glacier Brewing Company for a barbecue.

The Clean-Up Green-Up effort will continue as Polson residents are urged to stack branches and bagged lawn and garden waste curbside on May 18 for city pickup, Parise said.
