ARLEE — The Charlo Viking football squad made a quick trip to Arlee Friday night for a District 14-C matchup with the neighboring Warriors. The drive was well worth it for the Vikings, who racked up 49 points to Arlee’s six.
Senior quarterback Tra Ludeman led the Viking charge, completing nine of 14 passes for 144 yards and one touchdown. Ludeman also had a 25 yard touchdown reception and eight rushes for 72 yards.
Junior running back Jacen Petersen led the team on defense with 12 tackles and two fumble recoveries, one for a touchdown. He also had three receptions for 81 yards, as well as 11 rushes for 112 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior running back Tyler Delaney had eight rushes for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
Senior wide receiver Webb O’Neill added three receptions for 32 yards and one TD. He also had two interceptions on defense.
Arlee’s Patrick BigSam scored the only touchdown for the Warriors off a pass from Riley Rogers. BigSam, a freshman, also had an interception and eight-and-a-half tackles.
“We had a lot of young players step up to play the game; we just didn’t have enough weapons to win the game,” Arlee head coach Mike Rogers said. “We turned the ball over on some key drives, and that is what hurt us.”
The Vikings, now 2-0 on the season, travel to Seeley Lake for a noon game Saturday against the Blackhawks, while Arlee heads to Drummond Friday.
