A 10-minute loss of electricity on Jan. 30 was caused by a bad insulator at Kerr Dam, according to Kerry Wiedrich, engineering manager at Mission Valley Power.
The blackout reached the west and east shores of Flathead Lake, going south clear to Charlo, including Polson, Pablo, and Ronan but didn’t affect Elmo, Wiedrich said.
Kerr Dam was shut down for two and a half hours while Bonneville Power workers took equipment into the pipe and isolated and replaced the arcing insulator.
