Editor,
Once again it is open season for any self-selecting fool with $15 (I know, because I speak from personal experience), and good hair, (okay, I don’t have that), to decide to become our “leader” at the biannual campus for the criminally insane in Helena. Too many of our fine candidates have an agenda the rest of us may not care much about, but because they’ve taken the effort to run and we are all too busy, we let them in the hopes they will leave us alone after we elect them. You know the rest of the story.
While there are many good people who do serve in our Legislature, it is an unpleasant task. The pay is lousy, you lose time from your own job, family and generally enjoyable tasks, to do the people’s business. And that is why it is important we encourage people who have gifts of character, integrity, common sense and good judgment to run for public office.
It is in that spirit that I ask your readers to call Dale Gillespie and encourage him to enter the race and represent our fine community in the Montana House of Representatives.
I have known Dale for three years now and I can attest that not only is he an honorable gentleman, but an accomplished businessman with common sense and just the sort of person we need in Helena.
While this service is onerous, it is necessary, and Dale’s experience dealing with all of the regulations and other nonsense propagated by all of the ruling bureaucracies will help to make all of us freer and more prosperous. Please join me in encouraging this fine citizen to represent our interests in Helena.
