Woman charged in fatal shooting

POLSON — Ashley Whitmore, 33, is being held in Lake County Jail under a charge of deliberate homicide following the shooting death of 39-year-old Adam Mowatt of Polson.
According to a news release issued by the Polson Police Department, officers were dispatched to 1410 5th Avenue East at approximately 8:35 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, for reports of shots fired. Officers discovered a man, later identified as Mowatt, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began administering aid until Mowatt was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson where despite medical efforts he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation with other local law enforcement partners Whitmore was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of Adam Mowatt during this incredibly difficult time,” said Polson Police Chief George Simpson. “We are committed to conducting a thorough and professional investigation, and we ask the community to respect the privacy of those affected as we work to bring clarity and justice to this case.”
