FLATHEAD LAKE - The 2025 Fall Mack Days Fishing Event on Flathead Lake sponsored by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes came to an end on a Sunday, Nov. 2, with a total of 19,144 lake trout entries. A total of 335 anglers entered the event with 116 turning in 1 or more lake trout. 2024 Fall total was 18,414. The 2025 Monday-Thursday total was 5,369 and the Friday to Sunday total was 13,775 and in 2024 it was 3,811 Monday-Thursday and 14,603 Friday to Sunday.
Winning the Top Angler spot was veteran angler Terry Krogstad of Kalispell with a total of 1,206 entries and a 57.83 18-day average-Friday 63, Saturday 81, and Sunday 33. Top ten anglers are placed by their best 18 days of entries. David Myers of Riverton, Wyoming, came in 2nd with 986 and 51.56-0-entries for the weekend, 3rd was Larry Ashwell of Missoula with 1007-49.5 avg. Friday 48 and Saturday 65, 0-Sunday, 4th was Julie Perkins of Kalispell with 1027-48.83 avg. 58,73, & 48, 5th was Jack Kirkland of Lolo with 803-41.89 avg, 46, 61, & 0, 6th was Patrick Casey of Townsend with 774-41.06 avg. 45, 85, & 7, 7th was Devon Burkowski of Kalispell with 760-38.06 avg. 33, 31, & 23, 8th was Richard Kreis of Huson with 663-33.39 avg. 60, 41, & 32, 9th was Lyndon Lee of Canada with 535-27.67 avg. 45, 33, & 12, and 10th was Mike Benson of Lonepine 56-27.17 avg. 25, 17, & 10. Bob Stewart of Kalispell was 11th with 478, 12th was Laurie Kreis of Huson 468, 13th was Larry Karper of Florence 353, 14th was Jerry Benson of Plains 311, 15th was Angie Morrow of Kalispell 249, 16th was Ryker Bair of Helena 205, 17th was Dan Deutschman of Fergus Fall, Minnesota, with 200, 18th was Steve Mack Helena with 190, 19th was Joe Minnehan of Kalispell with 176, and 20th was Carey Hauser of Kalispell with 166.
Janet Myers of Riverton, Wyoming, took the top spot in the Ladies with 346, 2nd was Shaunda Albert of Ronan with 66, 3rd was Debby Sacchi of Thompson Falls with 45, 4th was Lorinda Freeman of Polson with 35, and 5th was Kim Mack of Helena with 19.
Olivia Cottet of Polson won the 13-17 age category with 12, 2nd and 3rd with 1 each were Liam and Porter Martin of Valier. Carter Lindsay of Pablo was the top winner in the 12 & Under category with 9, 2nd was Lincoln Gauci of Florence with 5, 3rd and 4th were Rea Redd of Valier and Rosi Martin of Valier with 2 each.
Felix Gauci of Stevensville won the 70 & Over with 152, 2nd was Mike Cosby of Thompson Falls 102, and 3rd was Marty Herak of Polson with 78.
Dan Deutschman of Fergus Falls turned in the Largest Lake Trout winner with his 40.25” 28.65 pound entry.
Smallest lake trout entries were Justin Bair of Helena with a 124mm (5”) laker and Larry Karpers with a 130mm laker.
Spirit of the Event Awards, custom made knives by Bob Crower of Thompson Falls, are given to anglers who exemplify good sportsmanship, educate other anglers, and are just good people who help and encourage others, went to Justin Bair and Devon Bukowski.
Jens Gran of Polson won all three of the Bucket of Fish Days with a total of 93.65 pounds of lake trout.
