ARLEE - June is just around the corner and we are anticipating more sunshine, heat and with just a smattering of rain. That doesn’t mean I’ve become the weatherman. It has been in the past several years that June was nothing but rain. May has proven to move into first place for rain most of the month. It has brought out the flowers, seen the dandelions grow and flourish, the grass grown several inches and made us mow our lawns every week.

Arlee seniors have remembered our many patrons who have passed this year. We send our condolences to the Don Henderson, Marvin Rebein and Fred Ducharm families, who have graced our tables many times in the past years. Breaking bread with good friends is such a blessing and we at the Arlee Senior Center enjoy the time we share with one another. If you would like to join us at a meal, please come on Mondays and Wednesdays at noon and on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 5 p.m. Come share your stories with us.

The center is open to rental/party use for a nominal fee on days that we are not open for meals. If you are looking for a graduation party, etc., please call, pick up an application and terms of agreement.

June brings Fathers’ Day and the many thanks we give to our dads or those who care for us. Als, June brings us World Environment Day on the 5th, D-Day on the 6th, Flag Day on the 14th, Juneteenth - National Independence Day on the 19th, and school is out making us aware of kids playing in the streets.

We now have a licensed Home Health Nurse Practitioner who will be here on June 24th to cut toenails for the elders. You need to sign up for an appointment at the center. There is a television available for your use, pool table to play a game of pool, games and puzzles. Sometimes we need to play cards or games.

Anyone interested in having a float in the 4th of July parade? If you are, please let the board know. There are several years when we won trophies. Shouldn’t we try again? Any ideas?

The next board meeting is on the second Tuesday of June 6 at 10 a.m. You are welcome to come. Stay in touch and come have lunch with us. Remember to call in your order at 406-726-3213.
