News from CSKT, Division of Fire
RONAN - On Thursday, May 29, wildland fire officials with CSKT Division of Fire raised fire danger within the Flathead Indian Reservation to MODERATE.
Debris burning with permit is still open, but all outdoor burners are urged to not burn on windy days. You need water on-scene and a tool for throwing dirt on an escaping fire prior to ignition. Lake, Missoula, and Sanders County fire resources have been busy this spring with numerous escaped debris burns. Be vigilant if you do decide to burn; vegetation is beginning to cure. Do your part to ensure One Less Spark as a result of your outdoor activities in the heat.
Also, make sure all trailer chains are secure & do farm/ranch activities in the morning before the heat of the day; ensure campfires have an established fire ring and not a rock ring; make sure campfires are out when you leave and use plenty of water and tools to stir up the area. Don’t leave until the area is cool to the touch.
