Where does the time go? It’s hard to believe we’re already gearing up for another Annual Summer Reading Program here at the library. The “Color Our World” program runs from June 9 through Aug. 7 and we’re bringing back the beloved Bug Race. There are two ways to record your reading: on a paper reading log or through the ReadSquared app or website. Your choice, just pick one. You can come into the library to register in person or register in ReadSquared. We have incentives and prizes this year from so many of our wonderful local businesses. We couldn’t do it without them. We have extra programs this year for all ages, including our Thursday morning programs for kids at 10 a.m. starting on June 12. We also have art-themed programs for teens and adults in the works as well. Watch for our PaperPie (Usborne) pop-up book sale June 9 and our full-scale sale during our End of Summer Reading Block Party on Aug. 7. A portion of the proceeds help us add to our children’s collection. Check our website calendar for all the details on dates and times. More will be posted as we get closer.

We don’t have any children’s programs scheduled for May 15 – 17, but we will have our last Story Times before summer on May 22, 24, and 29. Story Time is a school-year program and takes a break during our Summer Reading Program. Mother Goose will remain on Fridays at 10 a.m. throughout the year, but Toddler Time moves to Saturdays at 10 a.m. starting June 7. Join our Youth Librarian, Julie each week for these fun and engaging programs for your little ones. Did you know we have a teen board game club? Every month on the second Friday at 4 p.m. join our “unplugged” Digital Services Specialist, Connor for a fun time.

On May 17, during our Friends of the Library Book Sale in the library coffee shop area, we are offering an opportunity to exchange plants, cuttings and seeds with other gardeners in our community.  Speaking of the book sale, stop in on Friday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to shop the spring sale. Funds raised go to support the library. Every third Tuesday of each month, starting May 20 we are hosting a Phone and Computer Basics Class at 10 a.m. Bring your device and questions. Connor is here to help. We are partnering with the Lake County Conservation District on a program discussing the Pollinator Initiative and Impact of Pesticides on Tuesday, June 3 at 2 p.m. at the Library. The super popular Bookfest Club for adults is reading “The God of the Woods” by Liz Moore. Join in on Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m. for lively discussion and pastries. Looking further into June, please save the date for a visit from critically-acclaimed Montana author, Russell Rowland on June 9 at 5:30 p.m. Russell will sign his books and discuss his newest and most personal book, his memoir “Be A Man – Raised in the Shadow of Cowboys.” On Thursday, June 19 we are partnering with the Polson Police Department and the Flathead Tribal Police on an important presentation on drug awareness in our community. This program has two times at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., both will have the same content. Registration is required due to space restrictions and is already proving very popular. Reserve your spot today. Whew! We have a busy summer planned and hope you’ll join us at the library.

The North Lake County Public Library and the Joyful Cup will be closed May 24 – 26 for the entire Memorial Day weekend. Our regular hours are Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Joyful Cup Coffee and Tea is open Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The next Library Board Meeting is Tuesday, May 27 at 5:30 p.m. Please call us at 406-883-8225 or email us at: polsonlibrary@northlakecountylibrary.org with questions.
