Editor,
Last week, I had the privilege of chaperoning the Polson High School band tour to Seattle, Wash., under their fearless leader and director, Richard Sawyer.
I cannot begin to express how much I enjoyed my spring break with this incredible group of students. I knew most of them beforehand through the realm of substitute teaching but loved spending time with them and getting to know each individual even better. From the Seattle Sounder’s game to the Don Pasquale opera to the Experience Music Project, it was an absolute delight from beginning to end. Everywhere we went, strangers commented on this fantastic group of young adults, their maturity and their impeccable manners. They were wonderful representatives of our community, and I was proud to be from Polson.
We are truly lucky to have such an outstanding and talented group of blossoming musicians. The Polson band program is thriving and Richard Sawyer does a phenomenal job. Their future is bright, and I wish them many years of success. Keep shining and thank you for letting me be a part of this special adventure. It was a pleasure. Go Pirates.
