Editor,
One of my opponents is using a mail-in “survey” citing some legislation last session. Either she doesn’t take time to understand each bill or is deliberately distorting facts. Her survey refers to my position inaccurately, which shows a careless and inaccurate approach to her work.
It is sad that my opponent thinks voters can be manipulated and uses this desperate means to try to get votes. I believe the voters in my district are wise enough to see through this ploy.
I voted to protect the Constitutional right of local control of K-12 curriculum, rather than turn it over to the state, as HB 456 would have done. As a parent of four children, their health and wellbeing is always my concern. You can count on me to preserve our parental right to opt out of sex education for our children. Now my opponent is claiming it was a “statement” vote. I voted for what’s right. “Statement votes” use up a lot of expensive staff and legislative time, and were part of why the public thought last session was contentious and unproductive.
I voted along with 13 other conservative Republican senators on HB 237 to stop a knee-jerk House bill that did nothing to reduce utility rates. I take the time to learn the issues. There are times your qualified representatives serve you better by blocking impractical laws.
I don’t need slanted surveys to know what’s important to you. You are telling me when I knock on your door. If I don’t reach you face-to-face before this important primary election on June 5, feel free to contact me anytime at 883-4677 or carminemowbray@gmail.com.
You deserve and expect integrity in government. Here is your chance to ensure you get it. I have Senate experience and ethics you can trust.
