POLSON — Open enrollment for Part D prescription coverage and Medicare Advantage plans began Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7, and most people can only make changes to their plans during this time. Don’t wait until January and discover that your plan doesn’t work for you in 2013.
On Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. at the North Lake County Public Library meeting room, representatives from The Area VI Agency on Aging will be available to explain your options if you received a letter from Medicare Blue PPO telling you that they will no longer provide your Medicare insurance after Jan. 1, 2013. We will also help you understand your options regarding your Part D prescription drug plan. It is very important to compare plans each year because companies make changes in formularies, co-payments, premiums and deductibles. Just because you had a plan this year that had no deductible, doesn’t mean it will stay that way in 2013 and the same with covered drugs. We will be scheduling appointments for 1-on-1 consultations to compare all the plans for you and see how yours compares. If you choose to change plans, we can do that right in the office. We will also check eligibility for assistance programs and help with any other Medicare problems or questions you may have.
Coffee and refreshments will be provided. Call Kathi at the Area VI Agency on Aging at (406) 883-7284 for more information.
