Editor,

Montana’s Senate District 6 has an important election in the June 5 primary. The most qualified of the three candidates is incumbent Sen. Carmine Mowbray. I endorse her election for several reasons. Carmine has been a successful business-person. The Mowbrays started their own printing and publishing business. They were under-capitalized and they gained the confidence of our local banks, borrowed money, and built the business through conservative management, hard work and long hours. As the business expanded and matured, it employed upward of 40 employees.

When I was a business owner in Polson, I employed the publishing services of the Mowbrays to further my marketing plan in petroleum product sales and tire service center. Carmine was honest and hardworking and produced good advertising service. And despite the long hours of work in her business, she still found time to support local community organizations.

Despite being appointed to the legislature 20 days after the session began, Sen. Mowbray quickly learned the legislative process and subsequently carried 14 conservative bills successfully through the Senate.

Sen. Mowbray knows how jobs are created in the private sector. At the last legislative session, Carmine was one of the few legislators who declined taxpayer funded state health insurance and benefits. Carmine’s election campaign is assisted by no paid staff, just hardworking volunteers from teenagers to advanced senior citizens. Join me in voting for Sen. Mowbray for Senate District 6.
