Editor,

In last week’s paper, a letter to the editor writer took my words out of context. I wrote that the radical minority was “acting like nothing more than terrorists.” One definition of terrorist is “the use of threats to coerce for political purposes.” I guess the writer must have missed the word acting. And minority.

Like most Montanans, I want a clean environment, and I have actually worked for this in the legislature. I received the Paul Williams Stewardship Award for my efforts to keep our waters clean. I passed bills to fund the Clark Fork River Task Force and to keep water from Hungry Horse Dam for our use. And I have written in this paper that I am concerned about the water used in fracking and how it is injected into the earth.

Logging can be done better now than ever. Have you heard of selected logging? Horizontal drilling is a wonderful new technique. I just heard about MSU working on storage batteries. Future technology will help us use renewable energy.

Thank you for the opportunity to set the record straight. Please e-mail me or call with questions or comments: jannataylor@montana.com or 849-6096.
