Editor,

When my husband and I discussed John Swenson’s March 14 Valley Journal letter, my husband said that it reminded him of an old Air Force saying, “No good deed goes unpunished.”

We would like to counter Swenson’s attack on both the Greater Polson Community Foundation and the Envision Polson project. To suggest that there is anything Marxist in either of these endeavors is ludicrous. Securing the generous Orton Family Grant was no small achievement. People spent time and talent to make Polson a winner. Similarly, community members have been working with great dedication to improve both the business climate and our community in general through the GPCF.

We have always considered the place that we call home to be a work in progress. As much as we love Polson and as grateful as we feel to live here, we know that there is always room for improvement. We want to say how appreciative we are for the dedication of our friends and neighbors who so willingly pursue the goal of making Polson an even better place to live.

John and Carol Cummings
