Editor,

Several months ago, there was a letter written by a woman commending a certain man for being a peace advocate. Unfortunately, though, he does not advocate peace for all people.

God, our Father in heaven, says this about peace and doing good, “For he that will love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lips that they speak no deceit; let him avoid evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.” (I Peter 3:10-11) The word “peace” is in his book at least 420 times.

As a nation, we are trying to make peace in other places, yet we neglect our own people. We do not protect our smallest and most helpless of citizens. As a nation, we allow a violent act against women and the babies they carry. We sanction abortion, a very violent act that interrupts the natural processes of life.

Despite its legality, abortion can and does maim and kill women and leaves them with post-traumatic stress, unacknowledged grief and other emotional scars. Abortion, in all cases, tortures and removes a developing baby from its safe haven in the womb; very few babies survive, and they can’t tell us their experience.

If anyone is interested in the facts, read the book “Lime 5” by Mark Crutcher or testimonies of women in “Silent No More” on the Internet. I also provide information free of charge.

To the mothers, fathers and family members of aborted children, I offer these words of hope and comfort: God, our Father in heaven, who knows and sees all, also forgives and heals; he is the author of love, the prince of peace; he wrote the book. I believe your beautiful little boys and girls are home safe with him in paradise, hoping to see you one day. Look to him; he will give you true peace out of the tragedy of abortion.

As a people, let’s seek peace; let’s protect all of our citizens, regardless of creed, color, age or status in life. Let’s stop the violence on our own soil.
