MISSOULA — The Chiefs lost another hard-fought game against the Loyola Sacred Heart Rams by a score of 34-14 Friday.
“It was very close through the course of the game,” coach Jim Benn said. “On defense we did a very good job. One of (Loyola Sacred Heart’s) receivers signed with the Grizzlies and we held him without a touchdown for the first time this year.”
On offense, junior Connor Benn rushed for 70 yards while completing 10 of 12 passing attempts. Carston Baertsch scored both touchdowns for the Chiefs.
Ronan has played injured for the past several weeks. According to Benn, the Chiefs have lost several starting offensive linemen, a starting wide receiver and a fullback.
“We’ve had quite a bit of adversity this year — several kids with really significant injuries. The kids have really fought through it and done everything they could possibly ask for to hang in there. If we can eliminate some of those mistakes, I think we can play with anybody,” he said.
Ronan (1-5) will play the Florence-Carlton Falcons (6-0) at home Oct. 12.
